Northwest Calgary Registered Massage Therapy

You’ve probably noticed that when you’re constantly moving without rest, at some point your body can break down. Chronic pain can affect anyone. But don’t worry! The good news is that Maximum Potential Physiotherapy can help you get rid of soreness and neck pain or pain in any area of the body. We work with our patients on an individual level to help them recover–whether it’s from chronic pain or muscle soreness and tightness from everyday activities.

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy primarily involves the hands-on manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Our experienced massage therapists in Calgary NW may use a variety of different techniques, but most of them involve applying pressure with the hands.

Massage therapy is a regulated profession and the title “Registered Massage Therapist” or “RMT” is protected. This means that in order to call yourself an RMT, you must complete standardized educational certifications and advanced massage therapy training to register with the regulatory organization.

How Do Physiotherapy Massages Work?

Many of our muscles are painful in the first place because they aren’t getting the circulation they need. Massage, without a doubt, influences circulation and can improve circulation to your tissues.

Massage works in other ways besides improving blood flow; it can facilitate relaxation and the release of your body’s own natural painkillers. Massage therapy can be effective for muscle spasms, strained muscles, frozen shoulders, overuse injuries, headaches and many other conditions.

A-List of Some of Our Massage Therapy Services

Stress reduction and improved circulation are some of the most common health benefits that massage therapy can help with, but it also works for:

  1. Relieving chronic pain
  2. Improve mobility and ease of movement
  3. Improve mood
  4. Relaxation

At maximum potential Physiotherapy, it is our general recommendation that you combine massage therapy treatment with an active rehabilitation program!

Why? If you’re constantly getting strained muscles, an active rehab program can help make the symptoms go away for good (or at least make them go away for a lot longer). Therapeutic exercise combined with therapeutic massage services can be an excellent care option and our registered physiotherapists would be glad to help you out with your health goals!

What Are The Different Techniques and Types of Massage Used by Our Registered Massage Therapists?

Our licensed and professional massage therapist near Northwest Calgary is trained to perform a variety of massage techniques. Some of the more specialized techniques that they perform are prenatal massage (pregnancy massage), intra-oral massage (for TMJ issues), relaxation massage, therapeutic massage therapy, deep tissue massage, active release, conventional massage, athletic injury massage, and lymphatic massage (for edema).

All of our massage therapists can perform deep tissue massage treatment and work with motor vehicle accidents and acute & chronic injuries. A massage therapist works closely with other practitioners to ensure our clients get the best experience and effective treatment outcomes
